Aussie Recruiters

Think. Care. Engage. Recruit

Ok - well I know that 29 of you probably do not visit this site anymore but I will pose the question anyway.

I posed the same question to Jorge separately (Jorge - no need to reply twice :-))

I have not been home in 10+ years and wanted to get some insights from recruiting subject matter experts on the ground in Sydney as I will be returning to speak at a conference next April and would appreciate any local insights/views.

  1. Corporate recruiting is still done primarily through post (SMH and such) and pray (posing a job and hoping someone applies)
  2. Australian Sourcing = Is mostly looking for candidates on Seek (or other job boards) vs cold calling/networking or other proactive strategies
    • But......direct head hunting and cold calling into companies is still frowned upon
  3. Corporate recruiters still leverage agencies to find talent and get them to call into competitors
    • And most do not care, as the online presence of candidates beyond the job boards is really non existent anyway in Australia
  4. Most recruiters know very little about deep web searching or Boolean syntax

thanks for taking to the time to read and even more so if you reply here

Point by point:

1. Correct - although we (Inpact Executive Pty Ltd) leverage off our clinet AND candidate networks a lot (more) these days. Networking the people we know has become a huge focus.

2. Correct in the first part, but we have zero problems targetting people and companies direct.

3. I believe you are correct on both parts of this one.

4. Correct - I can certainly do with some coaching!!
