Jorge Albinagorta cogs without wheels (apparently)

A few years back the cogmaps project looked pretty hot. I venture to say that there has been very little traction. Since inception, cogmaps marketed itself as a org chart wiki. Users come in and update the org chart of their company (or one they know) driven by an interest to share updated information about themselves (e.g make themselves visible), or collaborate in the purest wiki sense.\ After a few years there are very few charts that I feel can be used for… Continue

Rob McIntosh Question for the 27 of you !

Ok - well I know that 29 of you probably do not visit this site anymore but I will pose the question anyway.

I posed the same question to Jorge separately (Jorge - no need to reply twice :-))

Jorge Albinagorta employment videos on YouTube

To attract the best job candidates, more and more companies are posting recruitment videos on popular grassroots sites such as YouTube. Most of the videos are highly polished productions, but there are exceptions.

See the rest of this article including a number of examples using YouTube as the distribution channel for employment related clips

Jorge Albinagorta in case tech fails

Yesterday's public revelation that the careerone client database had been exposed on the internet highlighted to me the issue of sales and recruitment personnel training.

How so? It appears that in addition to the disclosure of private client records data, there were also a few less-than-professional comments made by client-facing staff at careerone.

Technically, acce… Continue

Jorge Albinagorta LinkedIn stats for Australia

quick pulse taking on LinkedIn

Last Friday, the AFR was chockers with senior finance, marketing, legal and some it job ads. It seemed to me that either of those jobs could do well on LinkedIn. I am not saying stop the displays, but at least give yourse

Jorge Albinagorta Recruiting B.S. – And How to Get Rid of It

"Requisitions – Don’t have anything to do with recruiting. They are a way to stay on the CFO’s good side.

Job Descriptions – Don’t have anything to do with the job.

ATS – Not only isn’t it the center of recruiting systems, it’s the worst part of it.

TPR vs. Corporate – It’s a silly war started by corporate recruiters who are trying to justify their poor performance and

Jorge Albinagorta Recruiting is a Conversation

Just in case it went under your radar, John Sumser has published this presentation(pdf) to stimulate further thinking on the forces that are shaping Recruitment globally. The presentation is concise and assumes that some points need to be elaborated by the author (well that's his business) but I believe it is fairly informative nevertheless.

Jorge Albinagorta Managing your reputation online

These days, candidate references checks include finding about their presence online (viewing what they've written on their myspace site, for example). Similarly, service providers including recruiters such as your good selves are also being put to a similar type of web-based scrutiny. Candidates are interested in knowing your track record, tenure, what past candidates say about you, etc.

So if you want to know how you are being portrayed online, you migh… Continue

Jorge Albinagorta Googling candidates

AIRS is a US based outfit which is pretty heavy on online sourcing training to recruitment professionals. I just received a mailer from them advising of the latest practice-specific courses for candidate searching using Google.
As you can see, these are online courses, so my expectation is that they are properly paced plus you are left with access to the resources/techniques taught… Continue

Jorge Albinagorta The network is itself

I came across Ning a few days back. Unlike the usual thoughtless tests I usually run on the many services and tools I stomp into online these days, for this one I stopped and wondered: what if we're able to get a few people connected and finding common ground on how to take the recruitment practice forward, in line with the thoughts at LatinOcean? What if?

And then I let it go, because you know, I think: shivers! what… Continue
